Introduction
A salad processing effluent plant in Kent originally had submersible pumps in an existing sump feeding a screen installed when the plant was built. The effluent plant needed a complete refurbishment to cater for increased demands and an alternative solution required to problematic submersible pumps.
Option discussions
Hydromarque Ltd were asked to attend site by the OEM Contracter Aquabio, to look at an alternative option of using the Gorman-Rupp Super T Series™ self-priming, suction lift, solids handling pump, as a permant replacement for the submersible pumps. This would allow for ease of maintenance of the pumps as they can be worked on locally and at the surface. This also eliminated the need for pumps to be installed underground with lifting gear requirements and the possible need for confined space entry. Aquabio had used these pumps at many sites in the past with great success.
Solution
It was agreed to install 2No. 3” Gorman-Rupp Super T Series pumps, which were fully commissioned by Aquabio and Hydromarque Ltd.
As of February 2022, both pumps are still in and running trouble free.
